What the dating market is like today…

So last month, I have been seeing someone.  It’s been tentative.  The first date was a bit ammunition like. You know, the usual round of questions that they always ask you.  Where are you from? Where is home to you?  What are your hobbies?  Oh, so you went to XXX, cool, what was your dissertation on?  The list goes on, but he is looking at his watch to make sure he clocks in all the questions he needs to know before he progresses me to the next date.  All i am thinking is, is he going to give me a cordial hug or the kiss?  The kiss that says, yes I want to see you again, but this time, you are going to meet my friends.  The dating game continues… more like a flirtatious dance, where i have to carefully plan my weeks ahead of time.  Because, you know, of course – rolling eyes – I am not just seeing one husband-to-be, as they say for women, there’s plenty of fish out there in the sea, i can say the same for men.

My schedule went something like this: Week 1 – Monday with Mr.F and Friday with Mr.A.  Week 2- Friday with Mr.F and Week 3- Monday with Mr. A and Thursday with Mr. F.  I can’t be too available and I can’t be too cold.  I need to be just right for the picking.  That’s the dating market.
I know what I am doing.  Or at least i think i do.

Until my estacstic, or rather, narcissistic joy of juggling Mr.F, Mr. A, oh .. and even Mr.G came to a sudden change.  I wasn’t getting their phone calls, or emails… let alone texts anymore.  Did they find someone else? Are they not turned on by me anymore, but why?  BUT WHY?     The receiving end of “ no response” or more accurately, “ he’s just not into you” can unleash the most toxic alter ego of a person.

I can definitely relate to that.

Because I am sitting here, with more than two weeks having passed of these dating indiscretions of Mr.F, Mr. A, and Mr.G whining at intolerable lengths to anyone that is willing to hear me out.  And i mean anyone. From the innocent taxi driver, to the  wet market lady, and of course, to my ever so loyal friends that pretend to put up with me.

This is it.

On “giving up”

Today I tried to do a conversion problem on my own.  But i got it wrong.  What is 1816 g in lbs.  I tried to solve it on my own, but something fundamentally seems to be off in how I approach these problems.

I feel a whole herd of angry bees have flown into my ears and through the canals and are congregating in the middle of my brain which preferably in this non-biological representation, is between my eyes… and all that buzzing is increasing the infuriation of .not.getting.this. and . feeling irrationally angry and resentful at/of everyone else around me that can.

It’s a bit of an understatement to say ” don’t give up” to someone who is genuinely trying.

Blurb

I could rationalize in a quick 2 min summary of what i need to and what i ought to be doing.  Edit that CV. Send it off. Email those contacts.  Get back in touch with networking. Find a new job.  Lessen the amount of fantasies of beheading my conceited jerk boss.  Try not to be resentful of flat mates that are getting some, while you are not.  Don’t over do it in the gym, especially passing a benchmark of 10 kg. Eat healthy, not trans fat loaded snack foods that give the illusory comfort of controlled confidence.

Solution:  Read a nice book in bed.

Problem:  As i look at my collection of books, mainly from those i shipped from London… they consist of either ” What is justice?” or ” worse case scenario economics” or ” red star over china: history of Chinese Communist Party”————

New Solution:  Definitely need to buy some fun, trashy, quick-read books.

Current:  I salvaged some of my “entertaining” reads that i mainly kept for counselling for friends— so i am reading now ” IT’S CALLED A BREAK UP BECAUSE IT’S BROKEN”

Disclaimer: I don’t think break ups are entertaining in any way– but it’s an insightful read that is quirky enough to be fun.

ART

12:26 AM. Officially Sunday now.

So much disappointment or rather, angst and frustration.

I need to make art.

*

wishlist :  Canvas. Oils.  Brushes. Charcoal.

Ideal right now: Canvas. Paint gun.

*

Thought: Do you ever erase any of your sketches?  Ever? Be honest.  You don’t have to share the reason.  But be honest as to whether you did or not.

*

20 min later:  Fail.  I sat in front of the mirror naked, and tried to draw. But couldn’t.  I erased it.

So I shall leave an old sketch of mine:

note to self: Draw not to prove something. Draw because of authentically driven passions.

FAVOURITE burger place in London!!!

Best Price and Taste !

Only at brick lane burger restaurant!

(ok uh… i don’t remember the name >.< but it’s an open-air restaurant and it has a burger serving area on the outside and it’s right at the entrance of brick lane. You can’t miss it !)

I got Cheese+Bacon+Beef burger and chips for 4.50.

Good deal!!!

The burger was very tasty– the meat was cooked partially on the rare side which really enhanced its juiciness!!! Very nicely done!! And they have a burger sauce ( better than the typical ones you get at Borough market) they put on, it’s a bit sweet but really compliments the meat very well!!! i love this place!

Unfortunately however, i learned a major lesson that day… No matter how good the food is, if your company is awful, there is no way you can enjoy it.  Yes, i hate to waste food, but i lost my appetite that day– T_T

…but i plan to come back here with better company ^^ ….

Thankfully although the middle of my day was a bit punctured by sourness, I did get some food happiness with Y* earlier in the day, and managed to end the day with reassured art happiness with A*

So, yes.. I was sandwiched by a bit of a sour pickle, but thankfully the breads were wonderful ! ;)

You Gotta have some Seoul in your food!!!!

…. at ASSA…..

I got the wrong order
T_T

I think my face was so depressed, A* just sat there like this, @.@
(poor A*)
It’s pretty much ramen with rice cake.  What i wanted to get originally was the Ramen with SPICY rice cake. sigh -__-
The people next to us got the order!!! And added an extra of ” hey, yeah, the seaweed appetizer is good, it makes your hair grow thicker” 0.O
I don’t think i would get this order again as it’s just a typical ramen, and also i got a side of rice! what carb overload!!!!

A* got…
spicy seafood with rice
He reports that it was quite good !

The appetizers are free re-fills.  You get seaweed and beansprouts.  I really like the way they do the seaweed- particularly the seasoning.  Also this seaweed is especially appetizing because the texture gives it a chewy taste, enhancing the flavours.

*

I would come back here just so i can get the RIGHT order!!!
Because i know it’s worth it!!!

That’s some Seoul in the food to bring you back !!!!!!

Why Hallo-umi!!!

Yesterday, B* introduced me to…… a new cheese... and what an exquisite discovery!!!!!

I can’t believe I never knew about this cheese! Do YOU know this cheese????

A tablespoon of butter and olive oil

Fry that Halloumi!

(until it’s a bit goldenish brown like above)

*

Then .. Ta-da!

Some salad leaves

Sweet baby beets

strawberries

tomatoes (optional)

teaspoon of balsamic vinegar ( optional)

*

Place the fried halloumi on top as the oil and butter will soak into the leaves, so you will not need salad oil.  The sweetness of the beets and strawberries evens out the saltiness of the cheese, but does not detract from its flavour.  If anything, it brings out the cheese’s flavour in more digestible levels of saltiness!!!

*

Thank you B* for sharing that halloumi with me !
